Pastor’s Page

From the Pastor: Walter E. Hare

It is my joy and privilege to serve as Pastor of New Town Baptist Church. Mary Ruth, my wife, and I, came to serve here at New Town in May 2009. It has been a blessed and wonderful experience for us to worship and serve in this congregation. God has wrought many wonderful things and blessed the church with His presence and power.

My first priority is to preach the Word of God, to take a passage of Scripture and expound upon the text. I believe the Bible is the inerrant, infallible, God-breathed Word. I seek to preach the Word in such a way that every age group can understand God’s plan for their life. Above all, it is not about me or the congregation, but all about Jesus Christ and His Kingdom Work. It is my goal to minister to every person who attends New Town. I want to feel the heart-beat of every person who has a special need. It is the desire of my life to lead the church into sharing Jesus as the main purpose of the church. Also, to train those we lead to then lead others to Christ and prepare the Bride of Christ that His imminent return will take place soon.

If you are looking for a church home, a place to worship, and be a part of a loving church family, I invite you to visit with us at New Town. Our services are not without form, but you will find very informal type worship where we seek to let the Holy Spirit control. If you do not know Jesus as your personal Savior, we would be delighted to take the Word of God and show you His wonderful plan for your life. If there is a special prayer request, please call our church office. I am your servant for Christ’s sake.

As we magnify Jesus to a world that desperately needs him, we’ll certainly find that THE BEST IS YET TO COME!

My Personal Testimony

I was born in N.C. on May 17, 1940. At the age of thirteen, I accepted Christ as my personal Savior. When I was fourteen, I felt the call of God upon my life to preach the Word of God. I surrendered and preached my first sermon shortly thereafter. At the age of eighteen, I began my first call as Pastor at a little country church. I have served churches in N.C., Tennessee, and Georgia. God has allowed me to preach many revivals in a number of states and foreign countries. I attended Bible College at Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute in Hendersonville and Covington Theological Seminary.
